Artist's Comments

I actually haven't thought of a title for it yet. I'm not a fan of the untitled #1, etc...

It's an orchid. It was done using transparent layers, except of the center of the flower wich is mostly in opaque, pasty paint direct from the tupe.

oils on canvas, can't remember how big it is because I actually made the canvas and the wooden frame, I forgot the measurements.

now, the thing i like about this isn't that it's a still life, it's that it's a close up. I'm developing a liking for closeup of things that no longer resemble the original object. However, since I'm decorating my new room (i just moved), and orquids are my fav flower, I wanted to keep this one realistic. (Also, I wanted to see if I could pull it off since I'm not a fan of realism.)

Georgia O'kiffe was a fan of flowers (and representing women symbols through them), but that's not the point. I really like it! You should look into her work.

I like the shape and the fact that you worked with transparencies. I did a poject with transparencies and I sort of because a fan of it.

Hope you're liking the new house

She also closes up on flowers like you did here that you can still tell itsa flower, but it's abstract that it looses the meaning and it could totally be something else. but it's still a flower :-P :)
