Autoretrato en azul

"Blue self-portrait". This was s proyect for a contemporary art history class, we had to make a work of art based on either a contemporary art movement or artist. I chose abstract expressionism although it isn't very contemporary anymore because it's one of my favourite movements. It's based on works by Jackson Pollock and Mark Tobey. What I was really going for where Tobey's line paintings and a little bit of Pollocks dripping technique.

So part of the painting is just a bunch of lines in different colors and the the drips. In additon there are crystal pieces adding texture and they catch the light and make for an interesting surface.

The title refers to a slight fragmentation of myself, it's not that I'm broken but that I felt at the time like I was all over the place and I couldn't find one direction in which to go.
